Love Meghan Markle's engagement ring? Sorry, the royal jeweler won't replicate it for you
It seems like everyone is super excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement, and we don’t blame them. Have you seen that rock on her finger?! Unfortunately, if you were thinking of asking the royal jewelers to make you one just like it, that’s not an option. Cleave and Company is refusing to make replicas of Meghan Markle’s engagement ring. Unsurprisingly, they’ve received tons of requests.
Stephen Connelly, the director of Cleave and Company, told the Associated Press that it’s “a bit of a shock” how much attention Meghan Markle’s engagement ring is getting, People reports. “We’re not going to be making replicas of it,” he said. “If you want a ring, then we’ll design you a different one.”
We get it. Engagement rings should be unique to the bride-to-be, and Markle’s is definitely special. Prince Harry designed Meghan Markle’s engagement ring himself. Swoon! In case you haven’t seen enough photos of the masterpiece, it contains three diamonds: one large stone flanked by two smaller stones. And the best part? The smaller stones belonged to the prince’s mother, Princess Diana. How sweet and sentimental at the same time, right? We think she’d be absolutely honored by the tribute.
The center diamond is from Botswana, which has a special meaning too. This past summer, the couple visited the country together.
Here’s Markle wearing the engagement ring. It’s so beautiful!
And here’s a closer look at the ring in all its sparkly glory.
According to the AP, David Thomas, who works with Cleave and Company and is a former Crown Jeweler who looked after the royal family’s jewels, said that working on Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was the “biggest and hardest secret” to keep. We can imagine!
After we swoon over Meghan Markle’s engagement ring a bit more, we look forward to hearing more news about the upcoming royal wedding. Though it’s not until May at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, we’re sure there will be more wedding prep to admire as the days go on.
