Playwright, singer, actor, and all-around incredibly talented human Lin-Manuel Miranda’s biggest career dream isn’t getting an EGOT — you know, that prestigious honor reserved for wildly accomplished people who win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, AND Tony. No, my friends. Miranda’s biggest aspiration (at least on the latest episode of James Corden’s Late Late Show) is to perform a musical on The Crosswalk.
Luckily for him, and for us, his dream came true. In the latest episode of Crosswalk The Musical, Miranda makes another appearance, a little more than a year since he starred in an episode of Carpool Karaoke. He joined host Corden and a gaggle of super enthusiastic theater people as they geared up to perform the musical Hair in LA traffic.
Corden describes it best.
Clad in all-pink hippie attire, he also acknowledges that this could be it for Miranda’s career. You know, aside from the massive Lin-Manuel Miranda hits that were Hamilton and In the Heights.
Miranda, wearing various wigs including a huge afro and a super long pin-straight mane that should be incorporated into Hamilton IRL, takes the stage — er, crosswalk — with Corden and cast performing the famous “Aquarius,” among other songs—in between red lights.
As if this wasn’t hilarious enough, the best part happened when Miranda and Corden recreated one of the naked acts from the actual show. Yes, naked. In the middle of LA traffic. At one point, Miranda gets on top of a car, still rocking his birthday suit.
Say it, Miranda. Have a look for yourself.
Could anything be better than James Corden, Lin-Manuel Miranda, show tunes and super rad outfits (both on and off)? Didn’t think so. Encore, gentlemen, encore!
