Katy Perry was black, white, and proud all over while accepting this most recent musical honor
Singer and activist Katy Perry is back in the news with a vengeance. Her new single “Chained To The Rhythm,” is the woke-inspiring reggae disco pop we had no idea we needed, but we are so grateful is here. Or, as Katy Perry calls it, “Purposeful Pop.” The song includes lyrics such as “Living our lives through a lens/Trapped in our white picket fence/Like ornaments/So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble” before she calls us “wasted zombies.” The lyrics pack a powerful punch, and are an important message in the current totally insane political environment.
So we were glad to see Katy Perry honored at Sir Lucian Grainge’s 2017 UMG Artist Showcase this weekend.
And, of course, she looked absolutely fabulous doing it.
Katy Perry wore a black and white suit that is straight out of a Tim Burton film.
We love this look. It’s the perfect mix of powerful and playful, which seems to be exactly the feel Katy is going for right now. But what we love even more is how Katy Perry is speaking out for those who lack a loud voice.
