Kathy Griffin just shaved her head for the most beautiful of reasons
Kathy Griffin is known for taking bold stances in the public arena, but what many don’t know is how devoted she is to her family in private. On Monday, images of a very beautiful and very bald Kathy popped up on social media. And according to writer Yashir Ali, Griffin shaved her head in support of her sister’s battle with cancer.
Photos of the Emmy Award winner’s freshly shaved head were posted with the caption, “In solidarity with her sister who is going through chemo, @kathygriffin shaved her head.” And the only sign of her famous red locks left: Her perfectly arched brows. In one photo, Griffin stands alone and topless in front of some greenery, smiling brightly with pride.
Kathy looks absolutely wonderful and we think this might be her most powerful statement, yet.
In the second photo Kathy is sitting next to her mom Maggie Griffin, who’s covering her mouth in surprise after seeing the beautiful gesture. Maggie later tweeted that her daughter Kathy was a “wonderful human being.”
We’re going to have to agree with mama Griffin on this one. Kathy’s gesture of support is beyond inspirational. Hair loss is just one of the many physical changes and challenges many face during chemo, and it can be especially harrowing for women. We have no doubt that Griffin’s gesture of solidarity means a lot to her sis.
Although we’re not sure what type of cancer Griffin’s sister is suffering from, we know the diagnosis hits home for the star. In 2014, her older brother Gary passed away at 63-years-old after a more than two-year battle with stage-four esophageal cancer.
We can’t imagine what the family must be going through at this time, but we’re sending so much love to Kathy, her sister Joyce, and all other members of the Griffin family.
