Kaley Cuoco just posted a bittersweet tribute to her late TV dad, John Ritter

Years after his unfortunate death, John Ritter continues to be on everyone’s mind. Kaley Cuoco posted a touching tribute to Ritter on Instagram, as September 11th marks 14 years since the actor passed away. The two were close — in fact, Cuoco played his daughter on the hit sitcom 8 Simple Rules. Ritter was still filming the show while he passed away due to a large aortic dissection, which took friends and family by surprise.

While Cuoco had many credits beforehand, many consider 8 Simple Rules to be her breakout role. In the show, she starred as Bridget Hennessy, Ritter’s boy-crazy teen daughter.

We think it’s sweet that she still thinks of him quite often — most notably, his one-of-a-kind sense of humor.

Ritter was only 54 when he passed away. While the show continued to air for a few more seasons, the writers decided to handle his death in a very emotional and memorable episode where his character also passed away.

Cuoco is no stranger to honoring Ritter’s memory. In fact, she’s used her account a few times to make sure her fans never forget how special of a person he was.

100% true! #johnritter @amy_davidson

Aside from 8 Simple Rules, Ritter was known best for his work on Three’s Company. He also provided the voice of Clifford on Clifford The Big Red Dog.

Cuoco managed to land yet another hit series after the run of the show. Since 2007, she’s been playing the role of Penny on The Big Bang Theory. No matter what, we’re so happy that she still has such a connection with her past castmates.
