Justin Timberlake's pro-LGBTQ+ iHeartRadio acceptance speech will bring you to tears
Last night, iHeartRadio had their annual music awards, and as per usual, celebrities flocked the event. But while there were plenty of notable moments, the iHeartRadio acceptance speech that Justin Timberlake gave is definitely making headlines. Why? Well, because it’s absolutely beautiful.
Since Timberlake’s speech was the first of the night, it definitely helped the show start on a positive note. Timberlake won the award for his song “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” which was pretty much destined to take home the prize.
Featured in the children’s movie Trolls, Timberlake mentioned some of his inspiration during his speech. It turns out that the lyrics were written about inclusion, and he was inspired by the importance of people out there who feel, in some way, different.
Here’s the speech. You might give him a well-deserved round of applause as well.
Very sweetly, Timberlake started out by thanking the other nominees. Because he’s a nice guy, of course.
Timberlake also made the speech fun and personal, mentioning how winning the award made him feel young again.
Then he got right to it.
We couldn’t have said it better. Seriously, we love the fact that Timberlake took the moment to address the youth of today — especially since growing up can be kind of a scary thing in this day and age.
The fact that he ended the whole speech with an empowering, well-placed f-bomb is even better.
Justin Timberlake knows that his words truly make a difference, and we’re so happy he used the event to express himself and his very wise, very encouraging thoughts.
