Josh Gad, aka Olaf from Frozen, aka LeFou from the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast, just shared some information that has us jumping for joy.
We’re still nearly a year away from the release of Beauty and the Beast (it opens March 17, 2017), but anticipation for the movie is already very high. If we needed any more proof of just how high, we got it this week, when the teaser trailer broke the record for views in 24 hours with a whopping 91.8 million views. It crushed it.
But even though the movie doesn’t come out until next March, some lucky humans have already seen a rough cut. And one of those lucky humans is Gad, who not only confessed that he has indeed seen a rough version of the movie, but told the world exactly what he thought of it.
“I play LeFou in the movie. Which – given that I grew up loving all of those hand-drawn Disney films from the early 1990s, Beauty and the Beast & Aladdin & The Lion King – this role was kind of a dream come true for me,” he told Huffington Post. “But the best part is — having seen an early cut of the live-action version – it is, you know, knock on wood, everything that everyone could possibly hope for and more.”
EVERYTHING WE COULD HOPE FOR AND MORE? That’s saying something, because we’re hoping for a LOT.
“Bill Condon is such an exceptional director,” Gad continued. “He’s someone who — over the course of his career — has masterfully blended music & dance & visuals on so many of his movies. So Beauty and the Beast really plays to a lot of his strengths. And I think that people are just going to be floored when they finally get to see Disney’s new live-action version.”
We’re ready to be floored now, if Disney wants to put a rush on that release.
