Jerry Seinfeld says driving in a car with Barack Obama was the “greatest moment” of his life
When he isn’t dodging hugs on the red carpet or making us laugh with his hilarious commentary, comedian Jerry Seinfeld is hanging out with Barack Obama. We don’t know about you guys, but driving around with the former president in our car is definitely on our bucket list. But until we’re given the opportunity, we’ll just have to live vicariously through Jerry.
Back in 2012, Seinfeld created and produced a web series in the form of a talk show called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Each episode featured Seinfeld driving around in a gorgeous vintage car and picking up a famous guest, usually a comedian, to, you guessed it, get coffee.
However, in 2015, the Season 7 premiere stepped away from having the usual comedic guest to feature someone more presidential.
In the episode, titled “Just Tell Him You’re the President,” Jerry drove around with Obama in a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray.
And since then, Seinfeld has said that nothing he’s done in his long, successful career tops the experience he shared with the former president.
The experience was also plenty nerve-wracking, he said, comparing the feeling to his jitters before his first-ever appearance on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson.
Sure, President Obama is no comedian, but we have to admit, he’s pretty darn funny. And from the sounds of it, it’s clear Jerry is more than glad he made the exception.
It seems Seinfeld is a one president type of guy. When asked if he would recreate this experience with the current commander-in-chief, he responded, “Please no. You have to have some kind of comedic credential to get on that show.”
And if Trump did somehow end up coming along for the coffee run, Seinfeld wouldn’t want him to crack a smile. “My friend Colin Quinn said to me this morning, ‘Trump’s happy face, that’s his scariest face.’”
You can catch Jerry and his famous guests on Netflix for Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’s ninth season.
