Jennifer Aniston paid tribute to Bill Paxton at the Oscars, made us weepy
We lost a great number of artists and visionaries in 2016, and there was no way they weren’t going to be remembered at the 2017 Academy Awards. Jennifer Aniston was a presenter tonight, and she took the stage to help us all remember the actors and actresses we lost. She honored Bill Paxton in particular, the Nightcrawler and Titanic actor who just lost his life today from complications in heart surgery. He was only 61 years old.
Jennifer said that everyone who passed away in the past year “was a cherished member of our Hollywood family, as was beloved actor and friend who left us just yesterday — Bill Paxton. All were loved and all will be missed.” There was a crack in her voice as she mentioned Bill, and it had us nearly in tears.
We fondly remember Bill in Twister with Helen Hunt, and Apollo 13 and Tombstone. He always made us smile and made us feel like he was a long lost uncle. We can’t imagine how Hollywood is going to go on without him.
The death of Bill Paxton was certainly sudden and unexpected, and there are people all over the world who are remembering him today. Jen has inspired us to take a moment and think about Bill, as well as others like Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds who we’ll dearly miss. Our hearts go out to Bill’s family.
