It came as a shock to many of us when Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum, one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, announced their split after nine years of marriage. They called it quits in April 2018, officially filed for divorce six months later, and have since both moved on to different relationships. However, the actress spoke candidly about how “gutted” she was after her breakup with the Magic Mike star.

In a new interview with People, to promote her upcoming book Gracefully You: How to Live Your Best Life Every Day, Dewan opened up about her experience and revealed that she really struggled with her separation from Tatum at first.

Dewan, who has found new love with boyfriend Steve Kazee, went on to say that the end of her marriage to Tatum was a “hard journey of growth and change.”

She added that the journey ultimately led her to “a very joyful new place in my life.”

She said she wasn’t looking to get into a new relationship with Kazee so soon after her divorce, adding that “it was nothing I was looking for, but it was everything I needed.” In fact, Dewan revealed she couldn’t deny their instant connection.

Last month, the happy couple announced they’re expecting their first child together.

As for where Dewan’s relationship with her ex-husband stands these days, she said the two are still adjusting to the “new normal,” but that she and Tatum are focused on their daughter, Everly. She also added that even though they’re not together anymore, it doesn’t take away from the love that we had or that we shared all those years.”

It sounds like these exes have it figured out. Dewan’s new book, Gracefully You: How to Live Your Best Life Every Day, hits bookshelves on October 22nd.
