This "Hamilton" star just left the show by making an important message about diversity that we should all hear
Jasmine Jones is saying goodbye to Hamilton this week, and the actress’ beautiful message about diversity honestly has us in our feelings.
Jasmine, who plays Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical, posted a photo of herself dressed as Peggy and holding up a peace sign to the Hamilton marquee.
Jasmine’s departure means there’s one actor left from the original cast, Okieriete Onaodowan. Lin-Manuel left the show over the summer.
Lin-Manuel and the cast of Hamilton have never been shy about their opinions on diversity, especially since the cast itself is so wonderfully diverse.
Most recently, they took the opportunity to address VP-elect Mike Pence in the audience at one show, urging him to uphold equality in the new presidential administration.
At the Tony Awards this year, Hamilton took home 11 awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
Hamilton is currently playing on Broadway and in Chicago, and is set to tour San Francisco and Los Angeles throughout 2017.
We wish Jasmine the best of luck on her next adventure, and we’re excited to watch Hamilton continue to spread its message around the world.
