In a moving and heartfelt tribute, actor and fellow rock musician Jared Leto has paid tribute to Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, calling the artist an “absolute legend.”
It was reported last week that, tragically, Chester Bennington, the lead singer from Linkin Park, had passed away aged 41. The singer’s cause of death was confirmed as a suicide by the Los Angeles County coroner, and it sparked a wide discussion about mental health and the impact that the band’s music had on people who were struggling.
Following the devastating news, many stars, musicians, and artists have also paid tribute to the late singer.
In a letter posted to social media, 30 Seconds to Mars frontman and friend of Bennington’s, Jared Leto, wrote a lengthy and emotional tribute to the performer.
“When I think of Chester, I remember his smile,” Leto wrote. “His laughter, intelligence, kindness and heart. The absolutely unforgettable voice that was at once — delicate, ferocious and always full of emotion.”
He went on to say that he had learned much from watching Bennington.
“Witnessing his life taught me a lot. Especially about commitment, about kindness, about hard work, about the pursuit and achievement of dreams, and mostly about love,” he said. “I know that his family and his band were a massive source of inspiration and pride for him. It was clear to me that he was deeply grateful for both the people that surrounded him and the life that he had.”
Sending his thoughts to Bennington’s family, Jared Leto then wrote:
We’re sending Chester Bennnington’s family, friends, and bandmates all our thoughts during this time.
