If you were an avid Disney Channel watcher during the mid-2000s, chances are you were obsessed with Hannah Montana. Watching the series, we got to see what it’s like to be a superstar AND your average teen in the perpetually gorgeous Malibu, California! THE DREAM.

And, if you were a Hannah Montana fan, chances are you has some ~serious~ opinions about one teen idol, Jake Ryan, played by Cody Linley. Jake was Miley’s on-again, off-again boyfriend for much of the series and was a total teen hottie, despite being a questionable boyfriend.

So what has Linley been up to since Hannah Montana wrapped SIX years ago?

Luckily for those of us with curious minds and a knack for Instagram creeping, Linley is very easy to find on Twitter and Instagram. He’s still acting, most recently appearing in the Syfy film Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, where he played Matt Shepard (replacing Chuck Hittinger, who played the role in the first film). He’s set to reprise the role in Sharknado 5… Earth 0, which will air this summer on Syfy.

Besides his role in the Sharknado franchise, Linley has sporadically appeared in indie films, such as 2012’s The Playroom,  2013’s My Dog the Champion, and 2015’s Hoovey. Additionally, in 2012, Linley had a brief recurring role on ABC Family series Melissa & Joey. During his tenure on Hannah Montana, Linley also appeared on the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars with partner Julianne Hough and even placed 4th on the dancing competition.

Linley is an active Instagrammer, and is always posting throwbacks from some of his best roles, including one with Brie Larson from their 2006 film Hoot, which also starred Logan Lerman and Luke Wilson.

(Fun fact: I was obsessed with this film when it came out.)

Despite having moved on from Hannah, Linley is still proud of his time on the show. He recently posted a collage of memorable photos to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the series.

Having made his debut in 2000 film My Dog Skip, Linley has been in the public eye for most of his life and he seems to have an amazing sense of humor about the many photoshoots he had during his teenage awkward years.

While Jake may not have been the man of Hannah’s dreams, IRL, Linley seems really charming and fun. He may no longer be a teen heartthrob but we know he’ll kick shark butt this summer in Sharknado 5.
