Sometimes it’s easy to forget that many celebrities had totally different careers before they became famous. In actor Eric Stonestreet’s case, he used to work security gigs at live events. But wait, there’s more! One night, Stonestreet worked security at a Garth Brooks concert. And we have photographic proof.

The year was 1995, and the Modern Family actor looked seriously different. Stonestreet lived in Manhattan, Kansas, where he went to school at Kansas State University and majored in theatre. He came full circle with the experience when he recently attended one of Brooks’ concerts — this time as an audience member, of course.

Stonestreet and Brooks posed for photos backstage, and Brooks even signed some old photos of Stonestreet protecting him from enthusiastic fans. Check out these major throwback pics!

In one pic, Brooks is reaching out to fans while holding a bunch of flowers. Meanwhile, Stonestreet looks on protectively, while looking so, so young. Brooks’ note reads, “Eric, love you pal.” The actor captioned the soon-to-be-iconic pic with the following:

Stonestreet also posted another photo, which Brooks signed, “Here’s to circles.” Yep, he isn’t kidding.

Our minds are completely blown.

Of course, this story now brings new meaning to Brooks’ massive hit, “Friends In Low Places.” Add this crazy moment to the canon of anecdotes about following your dreams and not being afraid to work weird jobs. After all, you never know just where you’ll end up.
