While there’ve been so many developments since Season 1 of Game of Thrones, the biggest might be in the character of Daenerys. Starting out a little meek, she’s quickly become her own boss. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Emilia Clarke got real about feminism on set, and even discussed those nude scenes she (and many other women on the show) have done.

For one, she thinks that even though she’s been naked on screen, it doesn’t mean she’s not a feminist. Nor does it mean she’s not a lady of power, both on-screen and off.

Preach it, girl.

Clarke is also super proud of how far Daenerys has come. To see a woman in power is definitely important — especially today.

As a powerful woman in real life, Clarke made sure to give credit to her mother for her upbringing, saying that her mom rose from secretarial school to a high-power career. For Clarke, she learned by example that women are capable of so much more than they’re often credited for.

The much-anticipated seventh season of Game of Thrones is set to air on HBO on July 16th. We can’t wait to see Daenerys (and Clarke) show us, once again, that women can successfully be in charge.
