Last night, in one of the most anticipated (and expensive) fights of 2017, Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor with a final blow in the 10th round. But there was another knockout in the fight that many say was the actual winner last night: Demi Lovato absolutely killing it at the National Anthem. (Though, TBH, the jiu jitsu practicing Lovato is probably capable of all kinds of knockouts.)
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer is more of a lover than a fighter, but she does have a load of talent and a knack for singing both her songs (and others’) flawlessly. Needless to say, she didn’t need gloves, smack talk or bedazzled robes to totally slay, or should we say, take down, the National Anthem that she sung last night before the main event.
And Twitter noticed. They not only noticed, but totally disregarded Mayweather and McGregor altogether, the two men fighting a match that earned each $100 million and $30 million respectively, not including pay-per-view cash flow.
Lovato was the only one in the ring that mattered to these viewers.
Demi Lovato deserves a champion’s belt for sure.
Demi’s been a long-time fan of the UFC — and has even talked about wanting to be in a UFC fight herself — so we think it’s pretty awesome that she finally got the chance to sing for them. And she seems to have enjoyed the opportunity, too.
Even the winner of said fight thanked her for gracing everyone with her presence.
Congrats on the W, Demi. You absolutely deserved it.
