David Beckham Attends Luneng Group Promotional Event In Beijing

To be entirely honest, when we heard about David Beckham doing push-ups on Instagram, we thanked the social media gawds for what sounded like a traditional thirst trap situation. But that’s totally ridiculous because 1) clearly Beckham doesn’t need to trap anyone into lusting after him and 2) we can’t believe were so blinded by his um, allure, that we didn’t immediately get that this was simply Beckham’s contribution to the 22 push-ups challenge. Our bad, Becks.

As The Daily Dot reported, the soccer star dropped and gave us 22 after friend and filmmaker Guy Ritchie nominated Beckham to help bring awareness to the veteran suicide epidemic, a movement initiated by veteran advocacy organization 22Kill.

Because he’s no ordinary man, Beckham did his first set of 22 pushups on a plane at 44,000 feet in the air.

In the caption, Beckham explained the challenge before tagging Ritchie, Justin Theroux and his son Brooklyn.

Beckham gets all of the props for getting on board with the challenge. He joins a growing list of celebrities doing the 22 push-ups challenge, including John Krasinski, Chris Pratt, Anna Farris and the Stranger Things cast. We look forward to more famous faces working on their fitness in order to give such an important cause a well-deserved platform.
