We love Chris Evans for a thousand million reasons, but one of our favorites is that he totally has a sense of humor about himself. In an interview with Esquire entitled Chris Evans is Ready to Fight, he recalls a time earlier in his career when he was auditioning for Ben Affleck’s directorial debut Gone Baby GoneThis was before the days of mega Captain America fame.

Okay so, he meets Affleck for the first time at the audition, and granted, he’s a little starstruck (as anyone would be!). He manages to say words in a complete sentence, just maybe not the words he had probably envisioned for that moment.

If only we had been a fly on the wall! Seriously though, it actually makes us love Evans even more. Because at the end of the day, he’s just one of us — everybody gets nervous and says weird things sometimes! (Slash, a lot of the time).

Yup, we’re feeling charmed!

via giphyYou probably already know this since Evans is not in Gone Baby Gone, but he didn’t get the part. And it didn’t matter, because after the second Fantastic Four, his fate was sealed as a movie star.

via giphyThe whole Esquire interview is worth a read, and reminds us just how much Evans is a humble everyday guy (who loves his family and his dog Dodger. NBD).

We can’t wait to see Evans in Gifted, where he plays the uncle to a child math prodigy. It’ll be a departure from Captain America in every way, and a chance to show a different side of his immense talent.
