Chloë Moretz is so happy to be dating Brooklyn Beckham, but there is *one* flaw in their relationship, and the flaw is all too relatable. In fact, it’s something many of us have experience with: being defined by who we’re dating.

Moretz got so real in the September issue of Glamour U.K. She called out the many people who explain who she is by way of her relationship with Beckham, as if she hasn’t accomplished so much on her own.

“Seriously, you don’t know how often I’m just described as ‘his girlfriend.’ And you think, ‘Well, I’ve also been acting for 13 years, but don’t worry.'”

She’s excited to be open and honest about her relationship, but we definitely understand why she wouldn’t want to be defined by her relationship. There is so much sexist nonsense inherent in the statement that it’s hard to even look at. She has such a major acting career at the young age of 19, and people want to refer to her as his? She’s made it clear that she’s her own person, and who that person is is pretty accomplished.

On the bright side, Moretz seems to be enjoying her time so far with Beckham, as they can relate on a lot.

“One of the reasons why dating him is great is that we both get what it means to have our lives twisted and torn apart and faked.”

It sounds awful, but we’re happy she’s not going through it alone. We also hope her straightforward call-out encourages people to stop calling her anyone’s girlfriend, and recognize her for who she is: a rad individual.
