Chester Bennington's loved ones laid him to rest at a heartbreaking memorial service
Friends, loved ones, and fellow musicians came together to lay Chester Bennington to rest Saturday, after the Linkin Park singer died by suicide on July 20th. His sudden death has rocked the music world; his music has given many a way to voice their pain and sadness over the years. At the memorial service, held in Palos Verde, California, where Bennington lived, those closest to him gathered to celebrate his life.
The memorial was set up more like a concert than a typical memorial service; there was a stage set up with a drum kit at the South Gate Botanic Garden so the musicians in attendance could pay tribute.
From the pictures shared by friends of Bennington, those in attendance wore yellow wristbands with his name on them, much like those you’d receive at a concert venue. They were also given VIP passes with a picture of Bennington performing with Linkin Park in front of a crowd. It was a fitting send-off for the late musician, because music was such a vital part of his life and the lives of many others. His death has surely left a gaping hole in the music industry; no one had a sound like Chester Bennington.
A day prior to the memorial, Bennington’s widow, Talinda Bennington, released a statement about the singer’s death.
There will never be another musician quite like Bennington. He was definitely the voice of a generation’s pain, and always gave them hope to move forward. There are a lot of people who are still in the world because of Bennnigton, and we will always be grateful to him for that.
