While at an event to promote her line of handbags, Celine Dion dodged a question about her love life — sort of. As you may know, the icon lost her husband, René Angélil, back in 2016. The two had married back in 1994 and got to celebrate 21 years of love. Dion’s the mother of their three children —  René-Charles, and twins Nelson and Eddy.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dion opened up about the loss, and the process of grieving.

So, it was a tiny bit awkward when a reporter asked Dion about her personal life, and how things have been as a single woman.

First, Celine asked if the reporter was trying to ask her out. And then? Well, she broke out into song. “Diamonds” by Rihanna, to be specific.

The reporter persisted with the question, which caused Dion to break out yet another cover. This time, “Free Fallin'” by Tom Petty.

While we can’t read Dion’s mind, part of us thinks that she might be a little tired of answering the question — especially since she’s on record for saying that she’ll be grieving the painful loss for the rest of her life.

In fact, Dion said in an interview with The Sun that she has a ritual that she performs with her children each night to help them grieve Angélil.

We appreciate her way of dodging the question, especially since the event was about handbags — not about her love life. Plus, who knew that Celine Dion was such a big Rihanna fan?
