Prince Harry is thrilled about Duchess Kate's pregnancy, which is not exactly surprising
It’s official: Prince George and Princess Charlotte are going to have a little brother or sister very soon. On Monday, Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton is pregnant with her third child and everyone seems to be as thrilled about the news as they were about the first two. Even Prince Harry’s comments about Kate’s pregnancy show how close the family is, even if it does mean that Harry is getting bumped down to 6th in line for the throne.
Over the weekend, Harry told reporters that his sister-in-law was doing just fine, even though she is suffering from acute morning sickness, according to an official statement. He told reporters that he thought the news was “fantastic,” “great,” and that he was “very happy for them.” Although he appeared publicly with Kate and his brother on August 30 when they visited a memorial garden to Princess Diana, Harry said that he hadn’t seen Kate in a while, but that he knew she was doing OK.
That might be a bit of an understatement. According to the palace statement, Kate has cancelled all of her appearances and engagements until further notice since she’s suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, as she did with her previous two pregnancies.
The palace didn’t confirm how far along she was, but some media outlets have speculated that she’s about three months into her pregnancy.
The timing of the announcement is bittersweet, as William and Harry have been remembering their mother, who died 20 years ago this month.
William has commented in the past that he wishes, obviously, that his mother could have met his children. He said earlier this summer that he tries to tell 4-year-old George and 2-year-old Charlotte about “Granny Diana” and that they try to keep as many pictures around the house as possible to keep her memory alive.
Now that another baby’s on the way, there will be even more stories to tell. Hopefully, Kate starts feeling better soon.
