It’s a royal event — literally. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged. The royal couple announced the news today, November 27th, and the duo posed for pictures outside their future home at Kensington Palace in London. Their respective families are reportedly delighted, and the happy couple is set to tie the knot in spring 2018.

While the lovebirds are all smiles and celebration, the Twitter universe had a mixed reaction to the announcement. Some freaked out over the idea of another royal wedding (and really, who can blame them?). But many saw this as a moment to mourn, as one of the most eligible bachelors in the world is no longer on the market. From joyous celebration to angst-filled sadness, Twitter had a lot of feelings about Harry and Meghan’s news.

Some fans were gleefully exuberant about the engagement (and Markle’s killer style).

While the families are reportedly thrilled, Markle’s TV dad wanted to offer his blessings as well.

Meanwhile, others are sad about what might have been.

And elsewhere, fans of Markle’s hit TV show Suits were just confused.

Others see it as the British royal family playing the long game.

Regardless of what Twitter may say, we’re sending so many congrats to the happy couple. We wish you both the very best (and don’t worry; Twitter will come around eventually…probably).
