Margot Robbie says shooting "I, Tonya" was her honeymoon
Margot Robbie secretly tied the knot a year ago to her longterm love Tom Ackerley. They never announced their engagement, and the world learned of their marriage when Robbie shared a photo to Instagram with her wedding ring. While some couples like to jet off on a honeymoon after they say “I Do,” Robbie and her husband went right into production on I, Tonya. Robbie and Ackerley both produced the movie, which meant they technically spent their honeymoon at ice rinks in Atlanta.
“We did this film instead of our honeymoon,” Robbie told Extra. “There were times we were sitting in a car parked in Atlanta freezing cold being like, ‘We should be on a beach right now. We should be on a honeymoon. What are we doing?!’ Following our dream. We did it after we finished shooting. It was great.”
Okay so they eventually got that dreamy honeymoon, but still. A lot of people don’t get to go on honeymoons at all, but we do love Robbie’s dedication to this film.
Since Robbie is the star and producer of I, Tonya, she could have pushed the production schedule if she wanted to, but she didn’t because the project was that important.
The other day, Robbie told Page Six that she’s exhausted by questions about her relationship and wishes reporters would be as excited by her professional achievements as they are about her marriage. For example, Robbie and her husband are both producers for her LuckyChap Entertainment production company, which has a first-look deal with Warner Bros.
