Britney Spears just sold one of her paintings for $10,000 to help Las Vegas shooting victims
Van Gogh, Basquiat, and…Britney Spears? We know her first and foremost as a musical artist, but our favorite pop star is also an enthusiastic painter. And now, a Britney Spears painting has sold for $10,000.
Britney has shared quite a few videos of herself painting on Instagram, and we thought it was just a hobby. You know, a little something she does in between being a pop star and a mom. But her “hobby” has now turned into major bucks. We’re not even exaggerating. Britney Spears sold a painting for ten thousand American dollars.
Of course it was all for a great cause. The floral painting was sold by Vegas Cares, an auction for the victims of last month’s shooting in Las Vegas.
Does the painting look a bit familiar to you? It should, because Britney shared the making of the masterpiece on Twitter last month. The short clip starts out with Mozart playing in the background and Britney in her painting attire (crop-top, short shorts, and a paint-spattered button-down). Then, the camera pans to the colorful work of art.
Artist at work:
The painting, which features flowers in hues of purple, pink, and blue, sold for a staggering $10k, but what’s even more unbelievable is who bought it.
That’s the Robin Leach. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Robin Leach. He was the auctioneer at the event but ended up buying the piece for himself. Robin clearly has an eye and knows fancy stuff.
Las Vegas has become Britney’s adopted home since she started her “Piece of Me” residency four years ago, which will come to an end this New Year’s Eve. By donating her painting, Britney showed love for the city and support to the shooting victims. In a statement, she said:
Britney. Our pop queen. Forever.
