Let’s be real, we really like Blake Lively. She’s got great hair, she’s friends with Taylor Swift, her husband is hilarious, her kids seem adorable. What’s not to love?

However, we never really think about how damaging it is when fans, and anyone else, aspires to Lively’s seemingly “perfect” life.

While we’re sure any fan who has ever said “Blake Lively is perfect!” only meant it in the most loving way, we understand why Lively wants to distance herself from this “narrative.

During her cover interview with Glamour, Lively was asked how she felt about people viewing her life as “perfect.”

Lively’s “perfect” narrative popped up around the Gossip Girl era and most definitely stuck through the rest of her career.

We LOVE what she has to say. While we understand that anyone who ever called her perfect, was probably just hoping to compliment the star, to be labeled “perfect” is as damaging as being labeled, “negative” or “boring” or “easy.”

Women are complex and and the little window that we see into Lively’s life through her Instagram and her interviews isn’t the full view.
