Singer/dancer/YouTube star extraordinaire Todrick Hall was recently trolled for working with Taylor Swift, and that’s never fun for anyone. But luckily for Hall, he has Beyoncé in his corner. The superstar singer once gave Hall some advice about how to handle his haters, because she’s certainly faced her fair share of trolling. But why all the hate for Hall to begin with?!

It started last week after Swift shared a 13-second preview of her “Look What You Made Me Do” video. Hall’s dancing cameo was a surprise to many, and some people reacted quite negatively. People online thought he betrayed the black and LGBTQ communities by working with Swift, while others thought the video resembled Beyoncé’s “Formation” masterpiece. Of course, we all know Hall has been in two Beyoncé videos. We also can’t forget how Hall once sang five Beyoncé albums — 70 songs’ worth! — in four minutes. So it’s clear he would never show her any disrespect.

However, it’s also no secret that Hall and Swift seem to be close, too — anyone remember their Little Mermaid re-creation over Thanksgiving that melted our hearts?

So how can anyone troll or hate on Hall for working with his good friend?

Hall told Yahoo,

Hall went on to tell Yahoo Music, “I didn’t do this Taylor Swift video for money. I did it because she’s my friend, and she was very excited about it.”

Enough said! Hall then shared the advice that Beyoncé gave him about handling haters. And TBH, we all need to listen up, because we can probably all relate to being trolled or not believing in ourselves at some point.

Hear, hear — the queen speaks! Listening to what she says may be easier said than done sometimes, but the more Hall, and all of us, take this advice, the better off we’ll be.
