Amy Poehler says she's not a cool mom, claiming she's an "old school" parent
Yeah, sure — we know she’s not her character from Mean Girls. But Amy Poehler called herself an “old school” parent, and it’s coming as a bit of a surprise. The mom of two, Archie and Abel, was busy promoting her new movie The House while stopping to chat with Entertainment Tonight.
Playing a mom in the film, it made sense that the topic of parenthood came up. In her eyes, she’s “not too tough” on her boys, but definitely “tough enough.”
Poehler co-parents her kids with ex-husband Will Arnett. Archie was born first in 2008, and Abel, currently six, was born in 2010.
Her co-star, Will Ferrell, said he was pretty much just the opposite.
While he’s normally lax with his three sons, he does have his moments. But all in all, he clarified that he’s “not as mean as their mom.” (Of course, we’re not sure if his wife, Viveca Paulin, would agree with that statement.)
No matter what the rules and regulations are, we’d love to see what Poehler’s parenting style is all about. Since it was revealed that her kids gave her past co-star Aziz Ansari the hilariously weird nickname of “turkey sandwich,” we’re sure her house is at least filled with a bit of goofiness.
One thing’s for sure — Poehler is probably nothing like her character in The House, who helps start up an illegal casino to fund her daughter’s college education. You can see for yourself when the film hits theaters tomorrow.
