Alan Thicke's official cause of death has been confirmed, and it's so sad
Well, it’s good that we got this news quickly, since we really wanted to get a bit more closure. The results regarding Alan Thicke’s official cause of death are in, and it turns out that the famous actor passed away from a ruptured aorta.
People obtained the official certificate, which stated that Thicke passed away just minutes after the rupture. A “standard type A aortic dissection” was also mentioned on the certificate. The actor was just 69 years old, and despite a few chest pains that day, hadn’t noted any health concerns.
The aorta is an extremely important part of your heart. In fact, its key job is to pump blood in and out of the heart — so, any kind of rupture or tear typically ends tragically.
It’s all so sad, and reminds you how unpredictable life can be.
TMZ reported that while doctors tried to save Thicke’s life with a median sternotomy, which opens up the sternum, it was just too late to save him.
Prior to this confirmation, many news outlets were reporting that Thicke died from a heart attack, based on the symptoms that he displayed while out in public. That day, Thicke was playing hockey with his son Carter in Burbank, California.
While we know that this holiday season will be especially tough for the Thicke family, we really hope they find a way to unite, and support each other through this truly upsetting time.
Judging by Alan’s words and actions, he’d have wanted nothing else but his family to be together and help each other as the year draws to a close.
