The Hollywood Reporter decided to rank the top 100 most powerful people in the entertainment industry for the first time. And it’s no surprise that America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, also happens to be America’s most powerful actress.
And it’s no surprise that America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, also happens to be America’s most powerful actress.
J.Law has easily earned her high ranking on this list since basically taking the entertainment industry by storm since her first (of four) Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone. She chooses inspiring, incredible women to portray onscreen and offscreen is just as badass as the roles she plays. Meanwhile, she’s maintained her sense of humor and even become a philanthropist despite the huge amount of pressure her level of fame can bring.
She’s listed at #23 on the list meaning she’s not the most powerful woman in entertainment, but definitely the most powerful actress. She’s right below Oprah Winfrey (who, though she can act, is more widely considered a CEO). Some powerful women executives make the list above her, including Shari Redstone, Donna Langley, Donna Walden, Bonnie Hammer, Stacey Snider, Emma Watts, and Kathleen Kennedy.
Her male counterpart (the highest ranked actor) is none other than Leonardo DiCaprio who listed at #10 after coming off a huge year with The Revenant (and several decades worth of impressive work before that film as well). And, of course, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger was #1 because, let’s be real… Disney has been killing it in the entertainment industry since before Jennifer was even born.
The point is, Jen is amongst some pretty impressive company (which is exactly where she belongs). She’s already done so much in such a short period of time that we have no doubt she’ll be on this list (and probably even work her way up it) for a very long time.
