Fortunately, social media is still doing what it does best: connecting us with each other. Even with the constraints of practicing social distancing, a bunch of celebrities are working to bring feel-good content onto our screens and back into our homes to remind us that we’re not alone.
So maybe we can’t go to concerts, yoga classes, or in-person therapy for a while, but now is the time to really get creative. From at-home concert live streams, guided meditations over Instagram, and dance parties in garages, some of our favorite actors, artists, and creators are providing some much-needed relief during these stressful and unprecedented times. Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner are reading stories to children
With so many school closures due to coronavirus, children who rely on school for food are put in an extra vulnerable position. To address the issue, Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner teamed up with Save The Children and No Kid Hungry to provide to support these kids and their families. To raise awareness for the fund, Adams, Garner, and a team of other celebrities are reading children’s books on the Instagram account @SaveWithStories.

Lupita Nyong’o delivered an incredibly soothing reading of the children’s book Not Quite Narwhal. In her Instagram caption she wrote that when choosing the book, she was “reminded of how great children’s books can soothe little ones, but also adults too.”
Witherspoon is one of our favorite moms to follow (both on- and off-screen) so of course we loved seeing her reading of Uni the Unicorn, a story that she said is all about believing, “which is very important!” Demi Lovato, Brie Larson, Beanie Feldstein, and more are all in the lineup as well.
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen put on an at-home concert
As Coachella, Stagecoach, and concerts everywhere have been canceled or postponed, singers are stepping up to give us the concert experience from the comfort of our (and their) couches. After being challenged by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, John Legend performed a #TogetherAtHome concert—and yes, it involved Chrissy Teigen, and yes, they were both in their bathrobes. (Instantly iconic.) Teigen took over event management duties and took requests from the virtual audience, so get ready to hear some fan-favorites.

Miley Cyrus started a virtual daily talk show
The singer and actress will now be coming at you live Mondays through Fridays on Instagram with her talk show “Bright Minded.” She’ll be bringing on special guests to discuss various topics centered around “how to stay LIT with love in dark times!” On the first episode, Cyrus brought on psychiatrist Daniel G. Amen to talk anxiety, and managing negative thoughts. Since then, she’s been joined (virtually) by Demi Lovato, Amy Schumer, Rita Ora, and several others.
Florence Pugh decided to shake it out
The actress’ dad inspired her lively Instagram stories. “My dad reminded me yesterday to keep smiling,” she wrote. “I hope some silly boogying can do that.” She started by doing a good old fashioned garage dance.
And then she put on an elaborate cooking show.
She reminded viewers how important it is to keep eating well and to cut back on food waste. With some of her slightly bruised produce (like her tomato—”She’s a bit banged up but she’s beautiful”) she made “a bit of a ratatouille” and yeah, we’re hungry now.
Taylor Swift reminded us that our pets have been training their whole lives for this
There’s a lot of relatable pet content going around right now and we would be remiss if we didn’t bring one of Swift’s famous cats into the conversation. The “Lover” singer even used her post as a healthy reminder for us all. “For Meredith, self quarantining is a way of life. Be like Meredith,” she wrote.
JoJo delivered a very important PSA with some killer vocals
We still jam out to JoJo’s 2004 hit “Leave (Get Out)” on the regular, but now we have even more reason to love it. The singer remixed her throwback classic to fit the moment—giving us lyrics with appropriate guidelines for practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic. (“Stay in! Right now! Do it for humanity!”) If that sounds wildly 2020, it is. But also, let’s give her the Grammy.
Demi Lovato honed in on the message by sharing who she’s staying home for
In addition to joining in on the Save With Stories fundraiser, Lovato also participated in the #IStayHomeFor campaign, sharing that she stays home for her parents, her neighbors, and her health. She also shared an important message in her caption writing, “There’s a lot of things going on in our world right now, but if there’s one thing that matters it’s spreading love.”
Kevin Bacon started the campaign, and he’s used his “six degrees” of separation from so many other celebrities to spread his message.
Kristen Bell and her daughters threw a dance party for Dax Shepard
Who doesn’t need a little family Broadway dance party in these stressful times? As Kristen Bell explained on her Instagram, her husband Dax Shepard was traveling, and to be safe, when he arrived home he self-isolated in an empty apartment. To keep him company, Bell and their children went dancing outside his window—and they are going for it. The video is giving us the warm and fuzzies.

Bell channeled her alter ego, Eleanor Shellstrop from The Good Place, to give us all a little advice on practicing social distancing without sacrificing the things you love. If you’re not already following Bell, definitely do so. She’s also coming in hot with the parenting-while-quarantined content that we need.
Alyson Stoner made sure we were still keeping moving
In addition to starting a 14-day meditation series to offer mental health support, actress and dancer Alyson Stoner said she wanted to do something for help with physical health as well. To help people keep their bodies moving during this time of quarantine, Stoner is doing daily “Mindful Movement” live streams. “Tune in, come as you are, follow my lead (and always feel free to do your own thing!)” she wrote.
Lizzo is helping us replace fear with love
Lizzo and her flute are offering us 30 minutes of zen with her Instagram Live meditation session. According to her caption, she wants to “promote healing during this global crisis,” and she advises everyone to use her video at their own pace. Lizzo also offers a mantra to help with anxious thoughts: “Fear does not exist in my body. Fear does not exist in my home. Love exists in my body. Love exists in my home.”

The singer practices Kundalini meditation, and she hopped on Instagram to walk followers through her morning ritual and provide some tools for mindfulness. “I think what’s most important is just being able to have a moment with yourself in the peace and the quiet,” she said.
