Even celebs can’t stand the newest Snapchat update
In case you haven’t heard, there is a new Snapchat update — and almost everyone hates it. In a recent overhaul, the app drastically changed its features, creating separate feeds for content from friends and content for publishers.
The app said in a November blog post that “the new Snapchat separates the social from the media.” But as is the case with most changes to social media, the internet had some strong (read: contentious) opinions. Twitter reacted with nothing but rage toward the update, which confused users with its layout and caused many to lose their streaks with their friends. A Change.org petition to bring back the old Snapchat started on February 7th has gained almost 600,000 supporters. And tweets began to circulate claiming that Snapchat would consider returning to the old format if users retweeted the message.
Even celebrities were less than thrilled by Snapchat’s new direction, among them some of the app’s most popular users.
Kylie Jenner
One of Snapchat’s biggest users tweeted that she wasn’t sure about the new changes to the app. But it seems like Kylie soon made up her mind because when a fan wrote to her about hating the update, she responded with “I kinda agree.”
Mm just saw the new Snapchat.. I don’t know how i feel about it! What do you guys think?

Chrissy Teigen
Teigen is another star speaking out against the Snapchat update. She tweeted that she was sad that the changes to the app’s interface made it more difficult for her to interact with fans.
I’m seeing this same comment so often. I liked that you guys felt like we were friends. I’m sad it doesn’t feel like that anymore. How many people have to hate an update for it to be reconsidered? https://t.co/PI7OAf9Qlg

Anger toward the new interface was so widespread that companies began to make fun of it.
Yeah the Snapchat update is rough, but have you ever left half a bag of chips on the table and then someone ate them???

Those who chose not to update the app were shocked when it automatically updated.

Y’all were right. The new Snapchat update is truly terrible

At this point in time, it’s unclear if Snapchat will actually take its users’ unhappiness over the new update into consideration. Thankfully, if you can’t stand the latest Snapchat update, you can get the old Snapchat back by deleting and reinstalling the app. Until then, there’s always Instagram.
