Celebrities Who Are Super-Fans, Of Each Other
By now we’ve all seen this picture: Macaulay Culkin, wearing a shirt of Ryan Gosling, wearing a shirt of Macaulay Culkin. And then there was the photoshopped Ryan Gosling, wearing a shirt of Macaulay Culkin, wearing a shirt of Ryan Gosling, wearing of shirt of Macaulay Culkin. Did you follow that? Good. Thanks to the Internet this recursion can go on forever.
It’s heartwarming to see Macaulay and Ryan supporting and somewhat “fan-girling” each other. It humanizes them, it’s like seeing an actor pump gas, sip Starbucks or grab groceries. Celebrities are just like us, you guys! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen stars being fans of each other. There was:
Viola Davis & Meryl Streep
Viola and Meryl starred in Doubt together. Later, Viola was asked if another actor ever admitted to being a fan of hers, Viola gushed, “Meryl Streep, that’s a big one!” Based on that comment I’m going to assume Viola’s a fan of Meryl’s as well. I mean, it’s Meryl Streep after all. the devil in Prada, the Kramer vs the other Kramer, the Sophie who had a choice .. you get it.
The next pair is a merging of worlds: sports and music. And it almost makes me interested in sports. (I said “almost,” Dad).
Drake & Johnny Manziel
NFL draft pick Johnny Manziel was a fan of Drake’s before they even met. They then grew to support eachother, Johnny would go to Drake’s shows and Drake would go to Johnny’s games. Drake says that they’re a “duo,” which is apparent in this picture taken after Johnny was drafted the other night. Drake captioned, “To say we made it…ain’t saying enough.”
See, that’s the cool thing about celebrities being fans of each other, they often end up becoming besties. Sometimes even collaborators. Like…
Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett
There was always a mutual respect between these two crooners. Sinatra always said Bennett was his favorite singer. And Bennett admired Frank so much that he founded the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Ol’ Blue Eyes’ name. You can really hear the duo’s camaraderie in their “New York, New York” duet on Sinatra’s “Duets” album.
And sometimes a mutual respect and support for eachother can bloosom into love as it did for Kimye.
Kanye West & Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Yes. That’s a picture of Kanye wearing a shirt with a picture of Kim with the name of his album, Yeezus on it. Making Kanye simultaneously a fan of himself and Kim. Kanye has always talked about his long-term crush on Kim, dating back to when she was just a celebrity stylist. Which is funny, because it seems like these days Kanye is dressing Kim. I think it’s great that they support each other. Is that what love is? Being each other’s fans? No really, I’m seriously asking, I have no idea what a healthy relationship looks like.
But let’s not forget, Kanye will always be a fan of Kanye…
That’s a direct quote from Mr. West. Look, as much as people hate him, you’ve gotta admire the confidence. He’s a fan of himself. I’m a fan of the whole ‘I’m a fan of me’ attitude. Because at the end of the day, there’s only you. If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect anyone else to?
