Awesome Photo Challenge Asks Women To Celebrate Themselves

Sometimes it feels like the world is full of things designed to tear you down. So consider this a booster for your body confidence through some creative Instagramming. Blogger Aly Bongo designed a photo challenge meant to question the pervasiveness of beauty standards, one iPhone snap at a time. Interested? We thought so. Bongo declared this week Body Confidence Week, though we’re sure you could recreate it any week. Here’s the gist of it:

-On Monday, take a photo of yourself as you are. Post it to Instagram or Twitter or Tumblr, wherever. Hashtag it with #bodyconfidenceweek2014 and leave encouraging comments for your fellow participants.

-Tuesday, post a photo of yourself that you love. Caption it with why you feel good about it.

-Wednesday, post a snap of yourself that you used to be insecure about. Maybe it’s you at prom, maybe it’s you last week. “Maybe a piece of clothing that you thought you couldn’t pull off,” Bongo says.

-Thursday, put up an old picture of yourself and say something positive about it.

-On Friday, put up a picture of someone you love or admire and leave a note about why you think that person is beautiful.

-Saturday, put up a picture of yourself in a swimsuit or summer clothes. Just embrace what you look like in a bikini or a sarong and leave your shame at the door.

-And on Sunday, put up a photo representing something you like about yourself as a person. Maybe it’s a recent accomplishment or a quality you’re newly grateful for.

By the end of the week, you’ll have a fresh reservoir of compliments to draw from when you’re feeling low, and a bunch of really good reasons to feel good about yourself. So get snapping!
