Celebrate your amazing self in a cloud of confetti at this pop-up photography event in L.A.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live, for just a moment, inside a cloud of confetti? Well, this pop-up photography event will help you to live out that dream next week.
From August 17th to 18th, The Confetti Project, a photography series created by artist Jelena Aleksich, will host an open-to-the-public event at the Avec Les Filles retail space in Los Angeles, inviting anyone to come in for a 20- to 30-minute photo session involving a ton of confetti, and even more self-love.
Visitors can book sessions with Aleksich here, for $20, happening between 12 pm and 5 pm on Thursday and Friday next week. Avec Les Filles, a positive womenswear brand, and The Confetti Project are partnering to create an empowering space where self-celebration rules, culminating in a confetti part on August 17th from 6 to 9 p.m. PST.
The Confetti Project was inspired, in part, by Aleksich’s fascination with confetti of all kinds, with its “nostalgic-yet-emotive quality…on top of its striking appearance,” as she describes it.
After moving to Brooklyn and entering a world full of creative types, she was inspired to uncover what motivates creators and what they celebrate about themselves — and thus The Confetti Project was born. She’s spent the last year profiling more than 150 creatives in New York and Los Angeles, and now she’s inviting all of us to enter her incredible world.
She explains of the project,
"The Confetti Project has evolved into a visual study on human identity, and a therapy in surrender, play, and cultivating daily gratitude for every day we are here and alive."
At the Los Angeles event, Aleksich will have a brief Q&A with her subjects to uncover what they celebrate, then follow that up with a series of photos taken as subjects douse themselves with confetti. Then, you’ll walk away with a copy of your fabulous photos.
