CC vs BB Creams
If you had a chance to read my post from last week, then you learned a thing or two about BB creams (hopefully). Chances are, you most likely hit up the Sephora website or your nearest drug store to check out some of the BB creams available. Then, voilà! You saw these so called CC creams, as well. Now you’re probably like, “Hey! Why didn’t that Jennifer girl tell me about these CC creams, too?” Let me explain!
Like anything that is ever invented, something new always comes along after the initial invention that is marketed to be better. However, the difference between a BB and a CC cream is very subtle (in my opinion). CC stands for Color Correct or Color Care. Like a BB cream, a CC is still going go be your all-in-one makeup step and will prime, hydrate, protect and perfect your skin. The main difference being that the CC creams are going to focus more on correcting complexion issues and evening out skin tone.
These CC creams use special targeted formulas and are great for those of you gigglers with redness, dark spots or uneven skin texture. CC creams are usually lighter in texture (depending on the brand) than BB creams and they will also give you more of a natural looking finish. One thing to keep in mind when shopping for a BB or CC is that the creams can definitely vary brand to brand. Check out some of my favorite BB creams here or see below for some gorgeous CC creams.
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 30 $35.00
This CC by Clinique comes in 9 different shades, ensuring that you find a stellar color to match your tones! Super lightweight in texture with a medium coverage, this formula is your one-step CC cream for glowing skin. The color correcting formula in this CC will help perfect a range of complexion concerns including redness, dullness or sallowness. This CC also contains an SPF 30 so you can withhold any steamy summer day!
Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector $48.00
This CC is an all in one anti-aging treatment, sunscreen, complexion corrector, moisturizer, and tint. Talk about a powerhouse! Formulated with ingredients such as arbutin and camu camu, a super fruit from the Amazon that contains 30 times the vitamin C of the average ol’ orange. Vitamin C is essential for even skin tone as well as healthy natural collagen allowing for firmer, brighter, younger looking skin. Who doesn’t want that?
Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 CC Cream $24.00
This is the first of a couple different drug store CC creams on the shelves. It is available in 3 different shades which can sometimes be a drag, BUT I have heard and seen good things with this little guy. This CC cream will give you instant coverage plus correction against signs of aging, uneven tones, age spots and wrinkles. Sporting an SPF 15 which is of course awesome for the summer days ahead and a sheer tint for a younger looking finish. This is a great CC for the price and can be located anywhere you can find a box of tampons! Yay!
Dr. Jart+ CC Essence Balm $42.00
Dr. Jart has done it again! If you’ve had a chance to check out the BB cream by the Dr then you can assure yourself you will be pleased with this CC. Although it does only come in two different shades, it blends so beautifully into your skin tone. This is a ground breaking formula that combines all the benefits from Dr. Jart’s BB cream and adds the bonus of an anti-aging treatment. This CC is lightweight and serum based to revive your skin of daily moisture.. This CC like the rest will correct uneven skin tones, pores and leave the skin with a radiant, flawless finish. The formula is infused with buckthorn berry extract and hyaluronic acid to keep you hydrated, refreshed and protected day in and out!
