All the best memes and jokes about that Cats trailer, for your viewing pleasure
By now, we’re pretty certain you’ve watched the fur-filled Cats trailer, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden, and Jennifer Hudson. On Thursday, July 18th, fans finally got their first glimpse at the Broadway musical-turned-movie; however, it’s definitely not what everyone expected—not even close. Let’s just say the Cats trailer left many viewers utterly shocked and uncomfortable, which of course led to the best memes and jokes Twitter had to offer.
In a nutshell, the two-minute preview sees the stars transformed into felines thanks to CGI. The movie, which is directed by Tom Hooper (the person behind the films The King’s Speech and Les Misérables), has actors keeping their human bodies and faces but covered in “digital fur” and given pointy ears and tails that are sure to give some people nightmares…or a laugh.
Though Swift seems happy about her transformation, tweeting, “I am a cat now and somehow that was everything,” the internet has collectively agreed they’re horrified.
