Did you catch this ~iconic~ moment between Harley Quinn and The Joker in “Suicide Squad?”

Loved it or hated it, you have to admit that Suicide Squad was pretty damn entertaining, jam packed with a ton of action, character we’ve cherished for a long time, and lots of perfect references to the DC Comics that inspired the movie. There was one moment in it that stood out from the rest, and yes, it had to do with the two major breakout baddies: Harley Quinn and The Joker.

Played perfectly by Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, Suicide Squad quickly brought us up to speed on their backstory. Harley Quinn was once Harleen Quinzel, Joker’s psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum. He managed to ~persuade~ her away from her doctor duties, and turn her into the bat-carrying, butt-kicking lady we know today. Lots of stuff about their history is glazed over (so keep your fingers crossed for that Harley Quinn/Joker spin-off) but there’s one moment between the two of them, in what is apparently a flashback, that clearly stands out in the movie.

If you know your comics, maybe you picked up on the fact that Suicide Squad pays major homage to Alex’s Ross iconic picture of the two of them from, “Tango With Evil.”

Well, Margot Robbie actually wears the jester costume seen above.

Earlier this year, HelloGiggles got the chance to interview Robbie, and asked her about the Harley Quinn costumes in the movie. She mentioned that she certainly tried on the “court jester” costume, but we were completely blown away to actually SEE HER IN IT during the movie.

We weren’t the only ones super pumped to see the quick shout out:

Robbie hinted that we might get a chance to see more costumes in future Suicide Squad/Harley Quinn movies, so there’s a possibility we could be seeing way more homages to the classic character.
