This missing cat was found living in a pet food warehouse, #catgoals

What child of the 90s didn’t love the movie “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey”, the ultimate tale of resilience? The 1993 film chronicled the adventure of two determined dogs and one opinionated cat as they traveled across the Sierra Nevada to find their estranged owners in San Francisco.

This week, Clive the cat of Toton, England embarked upon his own “Homeward Bound” story, though admittedly not as arduous as his cinematic counterparts. The Norwegian Forest Cat was found living inside a pet food warehouse about two miles from his home after being reported missing in October 2014.

According to NBC News, workers at the Kennelgate Pet Superstores warehouse first spotted evidence of a cat living among food boxes a week ago. The warehouse operations director reportedly began receiving alarm calls due to unidentified nighttime activity. Kennelgate paired up with the Cats Nottingham rescue organization to borrow a trap to capture the furry guy and return him home. “It’s a mystery as to where he has been over the past 14 months but we think he couldn’t of ended up in a better place what with all the free pet food he could dream of, not forgetting the odd warehouse mouse!” Kennelgate said. The company posted a photo of Clive to its Facebook page in an attempt to find his owner, including a note that the cat had a microchip connected to a Toton-area address. After struggling to reach anyone via the number linked to the chip, the team did some sleuthing to find an additional contact through the cat’s first vet, ultimately leading them to Tanya Irons.

Irons told the BBC that she had given up hope trying to find Clive after he disappeared at just 9 months old, assuming he had found a new owner.

“He liked to go outside a lot, but we think somebody must have been feeding him, he’s such a lovely cat,” Irons said. “I can’t believe he’s so porky.”

Colin Lewis, retail operations director at Kennelgate, said he was happy to see the cat reunited with his family, concluding that “It’s been a strange day at the office.”
