Carrie Fisher’s books are getting a reprint after selling out almost everywhere
Following a surge in popularity, Carrie Fisher’s books are being reprinted to meet the increased demand from consumers.
Following the actor’s death on December 27th, Fisher’s books shot to the top of the best-sellers lists on sites like Amazon.
Fisher had recently released her latest memoir, The Princess Diarist, which had been met with much press attention after it was revealed in the book that she had been embroiled in an affair with her Star Wars co-star, Harrison Ford.
Outside of her iconic role of Princess Leia and her acting in movies such as When Harry Met Sally and Postcards from the Edge, Carrie Fisher was a prolific author and screenwriter. Indeed, she was a successful script doctor for many beloved movies, including the likes of Hook, Sister Act, and even Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
What’s more, Fisher’s candid and honest writing was often heralded for its unabashed approach to topics such as mental health and addiction, such as in her memoir Wishful Drinking.
Now Fisher’s publisher’s, Simon & Schuster, has confirmed that they are working on getting more of her books reprinted to meet demand.
In a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, Jonathan Karp, President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster Publishing Group, said that more books were on the way.
"We are responding to the outpouring of interest in Carrie Fisher’s work and are quickly reprinting her books, he said. "All of them have remained in print, but our supply was wiped out by demand."
Carrie Fisher sold a staggering 500,000 books across her career, including titles such as Wishful Drinking, The Princess Diarist, Shockaholic, and her novel Postcards from the Edge.
According to their statement, Simon & Schuster should have more of Fisher’s books available at the end of this week.
