Carly Rae Jepsen is playing Frenchy in ‘Grease: Live’ — YES

Fox’s Grease: Live, the upcoming made-for-tv musical rendition of everyone’s favorite ’50s story, already has an amazing cast of characters. Julianne Hough is slated to star as Sandy, with Aaron Tveidt and Vanessa Hudgens taking the iconic roles of Danny and Rizzo. Now, there’s one more superstar on the cast: Carly Rae Jepsen, who is joining the dream team as Frenchy.

If you know much about Jepsen’s career outside of the pop realm, then you know her resume was just begging producers to call her (maybe) — she already has significant musical theater experience. Last year, she starred in Cinderella on Broadway. She did all this before dropping her latest album, Emotion, which has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews from both fans and critics. It seems like she can truly do it all.

But that isn’t the only word from Grease: Live. News has also broke that Jessie J will be joining the stage, not as a character, but instead to perform a rendition of “Grease (Is The Word)” to open the show and really get it started on the right foot.

Fox is following in NBC’s footsteps, which recently produced both The Sound of Music Live! and Peter Pan Live! It seems like viewers just can’t get enough of that Broadway goodness from the comfort of their living rooms.

Unfortunately, we still have to wait a few months before Fox airs the musical. It’s set to come to our TVs on January 31, 2016. That sounds crazy far away, but until then, they’ll be rehearsing super hard. Can you just picture all these awesome artists practicing together in the same room? What I would give to be a fly on that wall.
