Carly Rae Jepsen debuted another new song on ‘SNL’ this weekend and we love it

If there’s a pop star out there who truly understands how to create a killer earworm, it’s Carly Rae Jepsen. She was impossible to ignore (in the best way) when she burst onto the music scene in 2012 with “Call Me Maybe,” AKA the most Song-of-the-Summery song ever to exist. You could not exist in Summer ’12 and not know at least the chorus to “Call Me Maybe.” She dived deep back into our eardrums last month with “I Really Like You” and then followed it up with an epic video starring none other than Tom Hanks. What I’m saying is: Carly Rae Jepsen gets the pop music game.

So when she debuted another new song on Saturday Night Live this weekend, we had to take notice. You don’t just ignore a new Carly Rae song, after all. Proving that she knows just how to keep us guessing though, Carly didn’t drop another upbeat, stuck-in-your-head-on-first-listen jam. Instead, she introduced us to “All That,” a slow, soulful ballad that takes us back to the 80s /90s in all the right ways. Take a listen for yourself:

It might not be Carly’s catchiest song or have that sure-to-be-a-chart-topper vibe, but “All That” does something that’s maybe even better for Carly: It shows us a different side of her, which is vital for an artist. Now, we know that not only is Carly an expert at crafting surefire hits, but she also has a super sensitive side waiting to be set free. Also, Carly’s cute new bob has maybe never been more on point than it was on the SNL stage. She won the night in every single way. Way to go, girl!
