Cardi B’s new single contains a not-so-subtle warning to her fiancé, Offset

We’re still a week away from the release of Cardi B’s first studio album, but the rapper is already making money moves. On March 27th, she treated us to a sneak peek of her album’s ’90s dreamscape cover, and now the artist is hyping us up with fresh tracks. Today, March 30th, Cardi B’s new single “Be Careful” dropped — and it contains a fierce warning to her fiancé, Offset, of the group Migos.

Cardi and her fiance have been together since February 2017, and they got engaged in October that year. Rumors circulated in September that Offset once cheated on the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, after his iCloud account was hacked to reveal photos of him with another woman. And the lyrics of “Be Careful” seem to allude to these rumors, although Offset is never called out by name in the song.

Throughout the track, Cardi references the tell-tale signs of a cheating partner, including ignored texts, contacting exes, and avoiding questions. Then, in the chorus, she warns her unnamed fiancé to tread lightly.

"Be careful with me, do you know what you’re doing? Whose feelings that you’re hurting and bruising? You gonna gain the whole world, but is it worth the girl that you’re losing?" Cardi sings in the chorus. "Yeah, it’s not a threat, it’s a warning."

Despite the song’s theme of infidelity, the lyrics are set to a smooth, mellow beat.

On top of the rapper’s engagement, persistent rumors that she is also pregnant have been swirling. But Cardi herself has hilariously shut down this theory, writing on Instagram, “Let me fat in peace.”

Listening to “Be Careful” has us all the more excited to listen to the rest of Invasion of Privacy on April 6th. But until then, one thing is clear: Offset had better be careful with Cardi.
