Cardi B says she’s dropping a new album in 2019, and she even gave a potential release date
Since the release of her first single, “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi B has continued to make money moves, and 2018 was no exception. It seemed like the rapper was breaking records left and right, releasing her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, to huge acclaim and becoming the first female hip-hop artist to have three songs hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. And it seems like Cardi has no plans of slowing down in 2019. Billboard reports that in an Instagram Live video on January 1st, the “Money” rapper said she plans to release an album this year.
When a fan asked the rapper if they could expect new music from her, Cardi responded with, "Of course there's going to be an album in 2019."
Cardi went on to say that she hopes to release the new music around the same time that Invasion of Privacy debuted in 2018—meaning her second album could potentially hit shelves in April. But as one of the world’s most famous rappers, Cardi’s schedule is understandably full, and she acknowledged that her desired release date might not happen.
"I don't know how possible that's gonna be because I feel like I'm gonna be extremely, extremely busy," she admitted.

Cardi also has several performances lined up for this year. According to her website, she’s scheduled for a live show in Atlanta on February 2nd, and after that, she’s booked at four music festivals between March and June. While it sounds like the release date for Cardi’s next project isn’t set in stone, we’re still crossing our fingers (and toes) that we’ll see it sooner rather than later.
