Cardi B gave one of her biggest tattoos a makeover—see the before and after photos
Another day, another Cardi B tattoo reveal. With at least nine known tats spanning her skin, the rapper is no stranger to ink—and it seems that her mentality when it comes to getting tattoos is “go big or go home.” Just last month, Cardi B revealed a massive mural of flowers and butterflies that run across her back, down to her mid-thigh. But today, the Grammy-winner showed off an equally impressive tat, and it’s an update to one that fans know well.
Cardi B got her peacock tattoo 10 years ago, before she was singing to sold-out stadiums—so fans will instantly recognize the colorful art that runs across her thigh and waist. In contrast to the dainty ink that many celebs have embraced recently, Cardi’s peacock tattoo is bold, bright, and big—just like her personality. The rapper showed off her unique ink on the cover of Rolling Stone back in 2018, but now, the infamous tattoo is bigger and bolder than ever.
Today, June 15th, Cardi B posted side-by-side photos of her peacock tattoo transformation on Instagram.
“So after ten years I gave my peacock tattoo a makeover. This whole week I been takin hours of pain getting tatted ??.Thank you @jamie_schene,” she captioned the post.
Tattoo artist Jamie Schene also posted the transformation on his Instagram account, revealing that he worked on Cardi’s piece for seven days in a row. That’s a whole lot of needles on skin.
“You’re [sic] strength and determination is inspiring. (Getting tattooed for 7 days in a row is no joke ?)” Schene captioned his post.
Not only did Schene brighten the existing features of Cardi’s original peacock tattoo, but he added many other intricate details and bold colors. Schene also designed Cardi’s floral back tattoo (which took a total of 60 hours, NDB). Both tattoos feature similar symbols like flowers and butterflies.
What better time than quarantine to revamp your tattoos? We can’t wait to see what Cardi B adds to her collection next.
