OMG, Cardi B and Offset have been secretly married since last year
Well, surprise everyone — Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s wedding isn’t the only union we’re celebrating this week. In a surprising turn of events, it appears that Cardi B and Offset are also married, and have been for literal months now. The couple, who got “engaged” in October (with a gigantic diamond ring to prove it), were apparently already Mr. and Mrs. when they announced their engagement, meaning that their public proclamation was most likely just for show. But hey, it’s a show we greatly, greatly enjoyed.
At the 2018 BET Awards, when Migos received the award for Best Group, Offset nonchalantly thanked “his wife” onstage. “I thank my wife,” he said. “You should thank yours.” Naturally, the statement caused quite the stir, and got everyone wondering if the two had secretly tied the knot.
Not long after, TMZ reported that the couple has been hitched since September (!) of last year, even before they publicly announced their “engagement.” The site got ahold of their marriage certificate which was filed on September 20th, 2017, in Fulton County, Georgia, where they currently reside. The official document showed their legal names — Kiari Kendrell Cephus and Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar. false
Cardi B and Offset’s public “proposal” took place on October 27th, 2017, at Powerhouse 2017 in Philadelphia, but from the looks of it, they were probably already married at that point.
The rappers, who are expecting a baby girl in July, started dating in February of last year. Rumors that they were already married started floating around at the time, but Cardi B was quick to shut it down. Fast forward to April of this year, the “Bodak Yellow” singer announced her pregnancy during a performance on SNL.
UPDATE: Yes, the rumors are TRUE. Posting to Twitter, Cardi B confirmed that she and Offset were married last year — and this secret marriage definitely influenced her latest album.
