Cardi B, leader of the free world, weighed in on the government shutdown
Cardi B, leader of the free world, has weighed in on the government shutdown. The “Money” rapper took to Instagram on January 16th to share her political musings about the shutdown, which is well into its fourth week now. In the post, Cardi promotes her new video for her song “Twerk” with City Girls, but not before expressing her grievances with the Trump administration.
“Hey y’all, I just wanted to remind y’all, because it’s been a little over three weeks, OK? It’s been a little over three weeks. Trump is now ordering federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid, she says in the video. “Now I don’t want to hear about y’all motherfuckers talking about, ‘But oh, Obama shut down the government for 17 days.’ Yeah, bitch! For health care. So your grandma could check up her blood pressure and you bitches could check y’all pussy at the gynecologist with no motherfuckin’ problem.
She continues, “This shit is serious, bro. This shit is crazy. Our country is in a hellhole right now, all for a fuckin’ wall. And we really need to take this seriously. I feel like we need to take some action…I’m scared. This is crazy. And I really feel bad for these people that gotta go to fuckin’ work to not get motherfuckin’ paid.”

The rapper is, of course, referencing the current federal government shutdown, which is the longest in U.S. history. The shutdown, which took effect on December 22nd, stemmed from disagreements over border wall funding. Experts are predicting that it could very well extend into February. As of today, Trump has signed a bill that ensures federal workers affected by the shutdown will receive proper pay.
We stan a politically woke queen.
