Cardi B and Bruno Mars just brought the house down with their ’90s-inspired 2018 Grammys performance
With her record-breaking hit “Bodak Yellow,” 25-year-old rapper Cardi B might be the queen of the music industry right now. Nominated for two Grammys tonight — Best Rap Performance and Best Rap song for “Bodak Yellow” — Cardi also scored success this year as a featured artist on Bruno Mars’s latest track, “Finesse.” Bruno Mars is already a three-time winner at the 2018 Grammys tonight, snagging Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance (“That’s What I Like”) and Best R&B Album (24K Magic). He is also nominated for Album of the Year.
In the music video for the remixed version of “Finesse,” Cardi B and Bruno deliver a wildly nostalgic tribute to In Living Color with neon, ’90s-esque clothing — and they brought that exact vibe to the Grammys tonight, graphic and colorful stage backdrop included.
Bruno Mars performed with his trademark swagger, gifting the audience with some perfectly synchronized choreography. Cardi B’s energy and rap flow was as electric as we’ve all come to expect. Sticking to the music video’s In Living Color theme, she slayed the stage looking like a diva from the era, clothed in a puffer jacket, gold medallion, a denim bucket hat, and a multi-colored shorts and bustier set.
Congrats to Bruno and Cardi on their wins and nominations tonight!
