Cardi B just announced her first televised performance since having a baby
Since she welcomed her daughter, Kulture, in July, Cardi B has understandably been keeping things low-key as she adjusts to motherhood. But now it looks like Cardi is ready to take to the stage once again, and she’s scheduled to perform at the 2018 American Music Awards (AMAs).
According to Variety, Cardi will perform her hit single “I Like It” onstage at the AMAs on October 9th. Artists J Balvin and Bad Bunny will also join her for the song, reprising their parts on the original recording. Other featured performers at the awards show will include Carrie Underwood, Benny Blanco, Mariah Carey, and Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla Sign. Entertainment Weekly notes that Cardi is tied with Drake for the most AMA nominations this year. Both artists received eight, including for the show’s top honor, Artist of the Year.
Cardi’s AMA performance will be her first time singing at an awards show post-baby, but it’s not her first time onstage since welcoming Kulture. In August, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper gave a surprise performance during a stop of Drake and Migos’s Aubrey and the Three Amigos tour at New York’s Madison Square Garden, singing her part of the Migos song “MotorSport.” She’s also scheduled to perform at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on September 29th.
Cardi was initially slated to go on tour with Bruno Mars this summer, but on July 27th, the rapper announced that she had pulled out of the tour in order to spend more time with her new baby.
The 2018 AMAs will air at 8 p.m. ET on October 9th on ABC. We can’t wait for Cardi’s performance, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she does next.
