Cara Delevingne shared a video on Instagram that shows why wage equality is so important. The message cuts deep and shows how wage inequality affects our county’s economic growth, poverty, and our national health.
In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine at the Women of the Year Awards in Los Angeles, the supermodel-turned-actress discussed the importance of women supporting women.
The video she shared is a trailer for Heroica Films’ documentary Equal Means Equal. The film navigates the treatment of women in the United States today.
The film’s official description gives us chills:

People often assume that gender discrimination and sexual inequality are phenomena of the past. But Lopez shows how present laws that claim to protect women are grossly inadequate.
The film presents “a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.”
The proposed amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing equal pay for women, was first introduced in 1923. It saw the most movement in the late 1970s, but by 1982, it stalled, and has gone nowhere since. That’s over 30 years that federal government has made no moves toward equality, which is not cool. We definitely agree with Cara that something must change!
